Ian O’Grady

Ian O’Grady is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist and a Fellow of the Psychological Society of Ireland. He qualified as a Counselling Psychologist in 2008 after training at Trinity College Dublin, where he also completed his undergraduate psychology degree in 2003. Ian has additional training in transdiagnostic CBT and has reached the trainer/supervisor level through the Unified Protocol Institute at Boston University.

Experience

Ian has worked in clinical practice and training for almost 20 years. He was a Senior Lecturer in Psychological Assessment in the TCD Doctorate of Counselling Psychology for over 10 years, training over 150 psychologists in the assessment process. His interests and expertise span neurodiversity and mental health. He has previously worked with the Dyslexia Association of Ireland, forensic childcare settings, and the health service, spending over 12 years on a mental health multidisciplinary team, where he developed expertise in ADHD and general psychological assessments. Ian is currently the Principal Psychologist for HSE Psychology Services in Kildare, West Wicklow, and Dublin South West.

Ian has been on the expert advisory board of DARE (Disability Access Route to Higher Education) for over a decade and on the Psychological Society of Ireland Expert Groups on ADHD and Psychological Assessment. He served as President of the Psychological Society of Ireland in 2019.
